Accessorise – Accessorise – Accessorise

August 4, 2014 By Jennifer Bayley Interiors

Creating that wonderful feel that you get when you walk into some homes and wonder what it is that evokes this …

Often it is how the home has been accessorised.  Just this week I had a company notify me that they had updated their website with more product … this is like honey to a bee.  Instantly I clicked the link and started to scroll through…

Accessories do a lot, they help to create the layering effect (which us girls do with clothes and accessories) and this adds to the feeling or ambience being created.  Whether it is a home or office there is accessorising happening.

I particularly like using over sized pieces if I want to create a statement or a little drama or interest.  Instantly I was drawn to the Delta Omega pots on the updated website of David Shaw Furniture.  This company has accessories from various designers and could be just that special piece you have been looking for.

Make Your Heart Sing With Designers Guild Autumn / Winter 2014 Collections

July 24, 2014 By Jennifer Bayley Interiors

I know how much everyone loves Designers Guild so I have taken the liberty of letting you in on what is to be released this season – my thanks to Icon Textiles and George Isles for the following preview.

‘Welcome to the new autumn collections, where global glamour is the order of the day and pattern and texture unite.

The starting point for the collection was 18th and19th century Indian and central Asian official and ceremonial costumes costumes. Nearly all of them combine different textile elements – Ikat weave, print, embroidery and quilting – all in one garment, creating the most daring and exuberant combinations of colour, pattern and textures. Whilst this became the initial backbone of the collection, as the creative process evolved, other influences made their presence felt – from the deeply coloured brilliance of a Howard Hodgkin painting, to the delicacy and detailing of Indian miniatures, the coloured glazes of modern ceramics, and of course the perennial heartbeat of high fashion – all of which reflect many of Tricia Guild’s own personal passions.

This sets the stage for what will be an exciting season! This season we are   launching 11 new collections including beautiful new prints, fabulous weaves, an exquisite collection of silks, sophisticated widewidth voiles and two superb collections of wallcoverings. In addition we present 4 great new collections of ‘Essentials’, and one new ‘FR Essentials’ collection. A fabulous range of new cushions, luxury throws, rugs and home fragrance complete the scene.

We are also delighted to be launching three exciting new collections of fabrics by William Yeoward for Designers Guild, as well as a beautiful new collection of fabrics and a wonderful range of cushions for the Royal Collection. Finally we are very pleased to introduce a stunning new range of cushions by Christian Lacroix to complete the offer.’

In my opinion little snippets of DG are fabulous for bringing in that ‘wow’ factor and sublime gorgeousness!  Often we wonder what it is about a room or a home that makes us love it so much, it is just these layering items that give texture, colour and interest. They help to make your home yours – a reflection of you and what makes your heart sing.  The collection of clever colour combinations

Attended the viewing at James Dunlop Showroom in Auckland of Villa Nova Tuesday 15th July

The Villa Nova studio has a new design director and a fresher colour palette with a younger design aesthetic was apparent in the latest collections.  It is great to get this injection of inspiration.  Auckland is always fabulous for connecting you to the newest releases….
